Open Water Swimming at Chatfield
The rules are simple:
- Swimming Times: Monday & Wednesday from 4:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Saturday
from 7:30 to 10:00 a.m. Tickets will be issued to violators.
- Swim Season: Saturday, April 29, 2006 through Saturday, September 30,
2006.
- Parking must be in the Kingfisher lot or the lot to the south of the pond.
There is also an additional lot just to the east of the Kingfisher lot across
the bridge. No parking will be allowed on the sides of the road as the Park is
trying to revegetate the area after some construction work. Tickets will be
issued to violators.
- Each swimmer must have with them proof of membership into a permitted
club. This means you must bring your COMSA card to the lake. You could be
ticketed if you have no proof of being with a permitted club.
NEW THIS YEAR: COMSA memberships will NOT be available on site. You
must register in advance to be able to swim! Visit
www.comsa.org.
- Swimmers should swim to the west of the pond and leave the east side for
the divers.
The Park has posted an information bulletin board. The board lists the
various clubs that have permits along with contact information. Also on this
board are the permitted swim times and any special activities that occur
throughout the summer in the Gravel Pond. Those special activities are not
limited to swimming activities. Please remember that other people are using the
pond - fisherman, divers, dog trainers, etc.
